Tehran (IP) - Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani has met with the bereaved family of martyred Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani at the family home.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's President Hassan Rouhani has visited the home of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), who was assassinated in a US airstrike in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

In this meeting, Rouhani spoke with the wife and children of General Soleimani and extended his condolences to them.

Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the head of the elite IRGC Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, a senior commander in the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) were martyred in a US airstrike in Iraq on Friday morning.

General Soleimani was awarded by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and became the first Iranian military official to be given Iran’s highest military order, the Order of Zulfaqar, after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. 101/211/207
