Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iran, in Geneva, Ismail Baqaei

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations Office in Geneva called the sanctioning of Iran's Foreign Minister as an unprecedented attack on international diplomacy.

Iran PressEurope: According to the foreign ministry media department, Ismail Baqaei in a letter published, on 6 August, referred to international rules governing the security of Foreign Minister and respect for the functioning of diplomacy as a tool for dialogue and professional interaction between governments.

He added the US move to sanction Mohammad Javad Zarif confirms Iran's longstanding stance on the US government's dishonesty and hypocrisy in its claims to negotiate, Iran Press reported.

Baqaei stressed that the US government will be responsible for the consequences of its illegal activity.  

The Permanent Representative of Iran in Geneva, in this letter, described the effective functioning of multilateral diplomacy as a necessity for the maintenance of international peace and security.

He stressed: "The bullying and unilateralist policy of the United States has been seen as detrimental to international cooperation between governments and the rule of law at the international level."  101/211/216
