Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem called US Secretary of State's allegations against his country's alleged use of chemical weapons as a big lie.

Iran Press/Middle East: Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem called US Secretary of State's allegations against Syria as a big lie meant to deceive world public opinion.

Talking to Sputnik on Friday, al-Moallem refuted the allegations made by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about carrying out a chemical attack in Lattakia province in May.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin also deplored Pompeo's baseless allegations, describing them as lies.

On 25 May this year, an official source at Syria's Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said the fabricated and baseless news about the Syrian Arab Army using chemical weapons in the town of Kabani in Lattakia countryside are merely the preludes for Western lies and hypocrisy that usually indicates planned Western attacks or threats against Syria.
