Iran Press/ Asia: People from different cities of Pakistan, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, held protests on Friday, requesting the removal of Indian restrictions on the people in Kashmir.
On August 5, India revoked a special constitutional status accorded to the Indian-administered Kashmir, imposing a communications blackout and deploying thousands of troops to quell unrest in the disputed territory, reported Iran Press.
Last week on August 23, UN experts expressed concern regarding the restrictions on the movement of people and of peaceful assembly in Kashmir.

Earlier on August 21, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the current crisis in Kashmir has been due to Britain's evil policy as it left the Indian subcontinent.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi attended the rallies of thousands outside the PM’s office and Parliament in the capital Islamabad, emphasizing on Pakistan’s political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir until they achieve their freedom and ability to choose their destiny.
"But today I have to say, with sadness, that when there is an injustice against Muslims, then the international community, and those institutions like the UN that are to provide justice, remain silent," said Imran Khan, while pledging to raise allegations of rights violations in Kashmir at the United Nations next month.
Tensions have soared in the wake of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move to strip Kashmir of its autonomy and bring it under Delhi's direct rule.
On August 6, 2019, India scrapped Article 370 initiating the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories that has dramatic impact on the two neighbours.
Pakistan has announced that it will be downgrading diplomatic relations with India. It has also said it will be suspending bilateral trade with India.
India and Pakistan have fought several bitter wars over Kashmir, a mountainous, predominantly Muslim territory claimed by both countries.
