Iran shines at West Asia Championship Women Basketball

For the first time, Iran wrote its name into history book by winning the bronze medal at the 2019 West Asia Championship Women Basketball Monday night.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Iranian team defeated Jordan 71-52 in the bronze medal match in Amman, Jordan, reported Iran Press.

Edna Issaeian was Iran’s top scorer with 24 points and 18 rebounds. Iran suffered two defeats against Lebanon (88-75) and Syria (68-61) and defeated hosts Jordan (70-62) in the preliminary round.

It was Iran’s first medal in the international events. The Iranian women team participated in the competition with the Islamic dress code.

2019 West Asia Championship Women Basketball has been hosted by Jordan. The final game will be held between the teams of Syria and Lebanon.

Iran's Ministry of Sport and Youth in a statement congratulated Women Basketball team over their victorious achievement.
