July, bloodiest month, Afghanistan

Last month (July) was the bloodiest month for Afghan civilians in the last three years, with 1,500 killed and wounded.

 Iran Press/Asia: UN Office in Afghanistan, issued a report focusing specifically on civilian deaths and injuries, announcing that 1,500 civilians were killed or wounded in Afghanistan in the month of July as a result of war, terrorist attacks, roadside bomb attacks, etc.  

The report said this is an unprecedented level of civilian casualties in Afghanistan over the past three years, Iran Press reported.

The United Nations report did not take into account US airstrikes and drone attacks on Afghan residential areas which have in the past led to the deaths of thousands of Afghan civilians.

Earlier, the UN Office in Afghanistan issued a report which showed in the first six months of this year, nearly 4,000 civilians were killed or injured in Afghanistan, an increase of about 40% compared to the same period last year.
