Iran Press/ America: The lawsuit was filed late on Monday in a federal court of Santa Ana, California, saying the families in the US waited months for waivers in order for them to bring other (Iranian) family members to join them, but the US government has yet to issue any waivers.
According to AP, the Trump administration says the waivers would be issued on an individual basis, yet advocates say few waivers have been issued, and there’s no formal system to apply.
An official at the State Department declined to comment on pending litigation. A message also requesting comment from the Department of Homeland Security was not immediately returned.
The current version of the ban applies to travelers from five countries with overwhelmingly Muslim populations — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen. It also affects two non-Muslim countries, blocking travelers from North Korea and some Venezuelan government officials and their families. 101/211/215
