Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) on Saturday vowed commitment to an agreement reached on Friday with the opposition Freedom and Change Alliance to form a joint civilian-military governing body aimed at ending the country's months-long political crisis.

Iran Press/Africa: "We believe there is no loser in the agreement ... The military council promises to protect what has been agreed on and ensure its implementation," said Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, chairman of TMC, in a speech broadcast by Sudan TV.

"We are going to work with our partners from the Alliance for Freedom and Change and other forces in close cooperation in order to realise the aspirations of the people," he added, according to Iran Press.

The peace talks were halted after more than 100 people were killed on Bloody Monday on 3 June in a crackdown on Sudanese protesters carried out by security forces.
