Iran Press/Iran news: A 5.3- magnitude earthquake has jolted the western region of Iran, bordering Iraq.
An earthquake has hit Ezgeleh district, which has a population of roughly 30,000 in western Kermanshah province, Iran Press reported.
The 5.3 magnitude earthquake also jolted Halabjah in neighbouring Iraq, near the Iranian border.
The epicenter of the earthquake was eight kilometres (5 miles) deep.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Yesterday morning (Friday), an earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale jolted an area in Iran’s southern province of Hormozgan but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck in November 2018 a nearby area and injured more than 500 people.
Iran is prone to frequent earthquakes as it sits on major fault lines. A 6.6 magnitude earthquake flattened the historic city of Bam in southern Iran in 2003, killing 26,000 people. 105/211/205
