Iran Press/ Africa: In this demonstration, Protesters said the West supports neighboring Rwanda, which is accused of supporting the rebels of the M23 group, known as the "March 23 Movement", which threatens the strategic city of Goma, located in the east of the country.
Espoir Muhinuka, an activist of the Lucha citizen movement told Iran Press, “We are that at the beginning, we are going to do everything so that our authorities withdraw from the European Union, so that our authorities can ally themselves with people who love our country. As you know, these French and these Americans are hypocrites, we want serious partners like BRICS. we tell our authorities to leave the hypocrites and ally themselves with serious people like Iran, there is China, Russia, we understand that the West has caused great suffering to Africa for more than 60 years, and Africa does not move forward, for more than 60 years they have been stealing from us, they are killing us, they say that they are there for human rights, yet when we are killed at home they cross their arms, when the Israelis kill innocent Palestinins they say nothing, but they force us to dialogue with those who killed our mothers, our sisters, those who killed our compatriots, it's impossible”.
Motorcycle horns accompanied the chants sung in chorus by the demonstrators, some of whom identified themselves as activists of citizen movements, such as LUCHA, and Filimbi. Demonstrators also wore banners reading “USA = RWANDA M23” or chanting “closure of the embassies of France and the USA” to name but a few. The angry demonstrators, chanting anti-Western songs, marched around ten kilometers from the city center of Goma intending to go to Saké, the military operational zone, before being stopped by national security forces.
Suzanne Kibira, a protester, during an interview with Iran press, said: “We denounce the complexity of the international community, the United States and France as well as Poland who collaborate with the enemy who comes to attack us at home in the Congo. This is why we are here to demand their departure, that they leave us. We want our government to be able to rally with serious countries that can support us Congolese,” Rwanda has always denied these accusations, while the DRC, Western governments, notably the United States and Belgium, as well as a group of UN experts, say that the rebel group benefits from Rwanda's support.
But the Congolese are not taking offense against the international community, according to them, irritated by the support of certain countries for the M23 rebellion which is terrorizing the east of the country, they want more reliable partners than the USA and the European Union. For them, France and the USA are complicit with the M23 which is raging in the east of the country and which is, according to them, supported by Rwanda.
Amani Fiston, a protester during an interview with Iran press, said: “We burned these flags because their countries are the ones financing the M23 rebels, these are the countries that are giving weapons and armored vehicles and ammunition because we saw Rwanda trying to shoot at our planes. war, we know that it is this country which finances the war here, that is why we are burning their flags and their embassies because they support the war which is happening in the Congo."
Last week other demonstrations took place in Kinshasa, in the Congolese capital. Young people had even vandalized certain foreign interests, as a sign of protest against the "passivity" of the international community in the face of the violence of armed groups, including in particular the M23 (March 23 movement), in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
