Former US presidential candidate and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said the coronavirus pandemic "really sums up the deep failures" of Donald Trump's presidency, saying the only way for the country is 'Trump goes away'.

Iran Press/America: The former Democratic presidential candidate said she believes Donald Trump has become "bored" with the COVID-19 crisis as he knows it is hurting his chances of re-election in November.

She said: "Obviously I tried to warn about him when I was running against him and yet once it was over I hoped, along with many Americans, that he would rise to the job, that he would not be as bad as I feared.

"Sadly, he's been even worse and the COVID-19 crisis really sums up the deep failures of his presidency."

She criticized what she called his "refusal to lead, to take any responsibility to heed the warnings that were coming for quite some time before the cases exploded, to listen to the scientists, to reassure people, to lead by example".

Hilary Clinton claimed the US president has not talked with leading scientists "for weeks".

Asked what advice she would have for Trump now, Hilary Clinton laughed and said: "Just go away quietly, Just go back to golfing or whatever you wanna do and don't continue to mess with our country, thank you."

The United States has the highest number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the world, with the death toll now exceeding 117,000.
