Libya\\\'s National Accord Government forces progress in southwest of Tripoli

The forces of Libya's Government of National Accord managed to take the control of Gharyan southwest of Tripoli, from a Libyan National Army (LNA) group leading by Khalife Haftar.

Iran Press/Africa: The National Accord Government forces have already managed to bring around 90 percent of Gharyan city under their control.

Gharyan was used until Wednesday to be the main operation base of the LNA forces, from where the strikes against Tripoli were directed.

Libya's national force fighters also pounded Haftar's forces positions in the southern part of Tripoli.

The so-called Libyan National Army (LNA) supported for years by the Saudi regime, Egypt, UAE, and a number of western countries and that had dominance over the east of Libya has moved in recent months to the north of the country.

Khalifa Haftar ordered his forces to attack Tripoli in the current year April, 4.

Since the beginning of the attack more than 730 people have been killed and 4400 other injured in Tripoli.

The offensive by the Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA), which is allied to a parallel administration based in the main eastern city of Benghazi, intensifies a power struggle that has fractured the oil-producing country since the 2011 overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi.

Since four years ago, Libya has been divided between two rival governments, having two parliaments and two Army — one in the eastern city of Tobruk and another in the capital city of Tripoli, west of the country.

Tobruk-based parliament in the east backed by the Libyan National Army (LNA) under the command of Khalifa Haftar, and the Government of National Accord Fayez al Sarraj in Tripoli suppoted by international community. 215/213
