Iran Press/ Iran News: "Yalda means birth, brightness overcomes deep darkness and mainly is Jesus's nativity," Gholam-Ali Hadad-Adel said.
"From a social point, Yalda indicates people's life and incomes are agricultural-based, they have harvested and reaped what they have planted," he noted.
"Yalda also means all hardships, tough days created by bullying rulers would end," he underlined.
"The longest and darkest night of the year is a time when friends and family gather together to eat, drink and read poetry (especially Hafez) until well after midnight," he said.
"Yalda means birth, and it refers to Mitra's birth; the mythological goddess of light," he explained.
As the next key speaker, Saeed Khateebzadeh the Foreign Ministry spokesman on the sidelines of the 'Yelda Regional Solidarity' webinar said that the cultural components have been turning to unity which indicates how wise people are.
"Iran is trying to register Yalda Night at UNESCO," Khateebzadeh stated.
Delivering a speech at the webinar, the spokesman explained the rituals observed during the night like Hafez reciting, nut eating, and gathering.
Yalda is Christ's nativity also. At this night rulers wear like ordinaries, and no slaughter 'animal' occurs, he said.
"Yalda or Cheleh is a day that lightness overcomes the deep darkness," he stated.
Khateebzadeh referred to the ancient religion's antiquity and highlighted its role in convergence and peace among the region's people.
"The cultural view of civilization felid in regional countries is becoming stronger every day, and these cultural factors are unifying elements among the people in the region," he said.
'Yalda, Regional Solidarity' webinar was held at the FM ministry with the presence of Saeed Khateebzadeh Foreign Ministry spokesman, Sarvar Bakhti President of the ECO Cultural Institute, Head of Sa'adi Foundation Gholam-Ali Hadad-Adel, Afghan Ambassador to Tehran Abdolghafor Lival, Tajikistan ambassador to Tehran Nezamodin Shamseddinzade-Zahedi and other ambassadors and officials on 19th Dec 2020.
The aim to hold the webinar was protecting the ancient "Yalda night" ritual and explaining its role in the solidarity of the people of the region.
