Iran Press /Iran: Ayatollah Jannati called the Trump proposal to negotiate without preconditions as a deception and quoted Ayatollah Khamenei as saying "negotiating with US is not possible at any level".
In his comments last month, Ayatollah Khamenei roundly dismissed any negotiations with the US, saying talks with a bullying regime that uses negotiations as a tool for pursuing its hostile policies is forbidden and would be detrimental to Iran.
Referring to the outright ban by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the top cleric said that "There are also attempts inside (Iran) for a possible meeting between the president (of Iran) and Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.”
Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani and Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, the guests of the two-day meeting, are also to brief the assembly on latest measures taken to solve existing living problems of the people.
On Wednesday, members of the Assembly will attend the late Imam Khomeini's mausoleum to pay tribute to him, and then will meet with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The Assembly of Experts is an influential body in charge of designating and dismissing the Supreme Leader. It has 88 members and holds two meetings annually.
The 88-member Assembly of Experts opened the fifth session of its current term in the former building of the Iranian Parliament in downtown Tehran on Tuesday morning.
