Iranian Minister of Petroleum said an agreement between OPEC and non-OPEC oil producers would be meaningless without an internal understanding and agreement inside the organization.

Iran Press/ Iran news: “Iran supports cooperation with non-OPEC producers,” Prior to departing Tehran for Vienna on Monday morning,Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said to Shana. “But so long as certain OPEC members create tensions against other members including Iran, an understanding between OPEC and non-OPEC would be meaningless, leaving no space for cooperation and no one would regard contentious OPEC members as bona fide members.”

Iranian Minister of Petroleum added: “Most OPEC members are our friends but some, despite the fact that we have never shown them any hostility, have chosen to act as the enemies towards the great Iranian nation,” Shana reported.

“OPEC had better ensure understanding between its members first,” he said, adding: “Some neighboring states should stop pugnacity against Iran and appreciate our hand of friendship. Otherwise, and without internal unanimity in OPEC, any other gesture in the origination would be fruitless.”

“An organization, where two members strive to challenge the interests of other members, is doomed to dissolution and talks of OPEC-non-OPEC agreements would be meaningless,” the official concluded.

Zanganeh on European mechanism for trade with Iran dubbed as INSTEX said that "for INSTEX to be useful for Iran, Europeans should buy oil from Iran and oil's money transferred to Iran through this mechanism otherwise INSTEX is not usefull.

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, who is in the Austrian capital of Vienna to attend a meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), is on a mission to preserve the Islamic Republic’s share of the global oil market.

OPEC members plan to meet later on Monday in Vienna followed by a meeting with non-OPEC states on July 2, where both sides are expected to extend the current output restrictions of 1.2 million barrels per day for another six to nine months.

Zanganeh’s participation in the 176th Meeting of the OPEC Conference came as the US and its regional allies are pressuring Iran to reduce its share of the world oil market.

In case the Islamic Republic joins the OPEC plan to extend the current output restrictions, its share will decrease and it will not be easily recoverable.
