The former head of IRIB and member of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution has said Iranian media have done a lot to inform world public opinion and reflect the struggle and intifada of the Palestinian people.

Iran Press/Iran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Friday, on the sideline of World Quds Day demonstrations and marches, Ezatollah Zarghami praised Iranian broadcasters, especially those who broadcast via satellite for abroad, arguing that they have played an important role and done a reasonable job in covering the events of the occupied territories and reflecting the struggle and intifada (uprising) of the Palestinian people to viewers and audiences worldwide.

Zarghami added: "The intifada today is different from the intifada of decades ago when the Palestinians only had stones to throw [at the Israeli army]. Those days are truly gone. Today, Israeli missiles are responded to with Palestinian missiles, and usually the Israelis then retreat or back down." 101/211

The former head of IRIB, Ezatollah Zarghami added: "Today there are many independent media outlets and alternative media which report freely what is happening in occupied Palestine. Even though the Iranian media are very much smaller and restricted in their operations, compared to mainstream Western media, but because they report the truth, and cover the reality in occupied Palestine, and because they say what the Palestinians and much of the world feels, the Iranian broadcasters and media coverage of the events in occupied Palestine has a far larger impact than Western media coverage of events there. The Western media coverage is just spin, from an Israeli point of view, and mainstream Western media simply defend the indefensible actions of the Israeli regime, day in day out."
