Iran Press/Africa: The Nigerian security forces shot dead two of Zakzaky's on the Wednesday protests, who were the members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) led by the Sheikh.
The protesters were carrying pictures of Shieikh Zakzaky's as well as those who were murdered by the Nigerian government force.
Clashes erupted outside the National Assembly as protesters gathered there and then sought to enter the parliament to register a demand for the cleric’s release. Forty people were also arrested during the rally, Press TV reported.
Human rights activists and supporters of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the illegally detained leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, held a protest rally in London on Wednesday demanding his immediate release from prison.
Sheikh Zakzaky, now in his mid-sixties, has been held in detention since December 2015 and was charged just in April 2018 with unlawful assembly and disruption of the public peace, allegations that rejected by Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).
IMN spokesman Ibrahim Musa, emphasizing that Zakzaky should have been granted bail due to poor health and if government keep him in jail, the protest will continue in Abuja and across the country.
In 2016, Nigeria’s federal high court ordered his unconditional release from jail following a trial, but the government has so far refused to set him free.
