In a recent escalation of tensions, the U.S. Treasury Department, through its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), imposed sanctions on two companies and four individuals. These entities are accused of conducting cyber operations under the auspices of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).

Iran Press/America: According to the U.S., these cyber operations involved spear phishing and malware attacks targeting over a dozen American businesses and government agencies.

The individuals and firms targeted by these sanctions are what the Treasury alleged to be integral parts of the IRGC's Cyber Electronic Command (IRGC-CEC), handling cyber warfare efforts on behalf of Iran.

Tuesday's sanctions are the latest against Tehran by the United States.

The new sanctions come after the Iranian military conducted a successful punitive attack on the Zionist regime of Israel on April 13 in response to its earlier terrorist attack on Iran's consulate in Damascus, Syria on April 1.
