President Pezeshkian to Chief of European Council:

European countries should, instead of adopting destructive approaches toward Iran, adjust their policies and positions based on international law and in line with constructive and professional engagement, Iranian President told European Council Chief in a telephone conversation.

Why it matters:

The U.S.-Israeli war on Iran is not only an unprecedented crime against the Iranian nation, but also a blatant violation of the rule of law and an assault on all the principles and norms that the European Union claims to uphold.

The big picture:

Attacks on Iran are being carried out from the U.S. bases located in some of the Persian Gulf littoral states and territories. These countries have not fulfilled their international responsibility to prevent their land from being used for attacks against Iran.

What he's saying:

Pezeshkian: "The current situation in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is the result of the hostile and aggressive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran."

"At no point have we sought tension or war, and we have the will to bring this war to an end while observing the necessary requirements—especially essential guarantees that such aggression will not be repeated."

"The Strait of Hormuz is closed to the ships and vessels of the aggressor parties and their supporters. Any foreign intervention, under any pretext, in this war and the current situation in the region will have dangerous consequences."
