Iran Press/ Iran news: In an interview with Iran Press on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Civil Commission of Iran's Parliament said: "During the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi's visit to Iran, Iran's railway connection to Iraq was examined and agreements were reached."
Mohammad Reza Rezaei-Kouchi told Iran Press that the Shalamcheh-Basra railway could benefit both countries despite its shortness (about 30 km).
Iran would be able to send goods to Syria and Europe via the Shalamcheh-Basra railway, he said, adding, "Shalamcheh-Basra railway project can have special advantages in economic, security and political equations between Iran, China, India, and Europe."
"As the world is moving towards global corridors in the future, Iran can be a safe and secure place to transfer goods to other countries," the head of the Commission ended.
