Majid Ansari, Vice President for Legal Affairs, said on Wednesday that Tehran has documented Israeli attacks on hospitals, residential areas and other internationally protected sites, and is preparing to file lawsuits in international courts.

Why it matters:

Iran is following up on the Israeli aggression against its soil as violations of international humanitarian law. The move comes as calls grow worldwide for accountability over the Israeli regime's attacks on civilians in Gaza and beyond.

The big picture:

On June 13, the Israeli regime attacked parts of Iran, including Tehran, targeting residential and military bases of the country. A group of civilinas, scientists, and military commanders were killed due to the attacks.

Iran has aligned its legal push with the Foreign Ministry and the Supreme National Security Council.

What he’s saying:

Majid Ansari: “In the international sphere, with close cooperation from the foreign minister and under the strategy of the Supreme National Security Council, the legal vice presidency is advancing this work. We hope to bring the voice of the Iranian people’s demand for justice to the global arena.”

“In other fields, from regulatory reforms to resolving disputes between government institutions and supporting private sector investment — priorities emphasized by the Leader — our office has maintained effective engagement.”
