Rome(IP): Thousands of citizens of the Italian capital, Rome, voluntarily cleaned up the public spaces of their homes from time to time following the waste crisis in the country.

Iran PressEurope: Nearly 14,000 Italians in the city of Rome, some of them schoolchildren, have been voluntarily collecting garbage from roads, public places, parks, rivers, and beaches in recent days.

In addition to the sanitary mask, the Municipality of Rome provided simple equipment such as brooms, shovels, gloves, and garbage bags to these volunteer citizens.

In recent days, the Municipality of Rome has insisted that better maintenance of the city depends on the cooperation and participation of citizens and called on the people to participate in cleaning their city.

Teaching children to recycle and to separate garbage in a few simple and fun ways is another program of the Municipality of Rome.

The city of Rome was facing a waste crisis late last year (2021). Hundreds of tons of garbage were dumped in various parts of the Italian capital along the streets and sidewalks.

Roberto Gualtieri, who was elected as the new mayor of the Italian capital coinciding with the waste crisis in Rome, started the clean-up and garbage collection process in the city with a budget of 40 million euros for two months.

The Italian capital has been facing a municipal waste crisis for years due to the lack of landfills and the mismanagement of some municipal managers.
