Iran Press/ Iran news: The President of Kazakh Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Tehran on Sunday and was welcomed by his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi.
They met and talked about Bilateral, regional, and global issues.
In the presence of Ebrahim Raisi and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, nine documents of cooperation and memoranda of understanding were signed between Iran and Kazakhstan.
In a joint press conference with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Sunday, Raisi described the visit to Tehran as a turning point in the development of relations between the two countries and said: "For the past 30 years, we have had good relations with our friendly and brotherly country of Kazakhstan, which is not enough and should be expanded."
The President added: "The memoranda of understanding that were signed today or were already signed between the two countries are a sign of the will of Iran and Kazakhstan to develop relations."
Referring to the 50% increase in trade relations between the two countries in recent months, Raisi said: "Economic and trade relations between the two countries have the capacity to increase the volume of trade to $ 3 billion in the first step. The two countries can have extensive cooperation in agriculture, industry, transportation and transit, energy, oil, and gas."
Highlighting the cooperation with neighbors in the Caspian Sea, Iran's President said: "We plan to expand the cooperation the region, and take serious steps in to boost co-op at the international organizations."
Noting that the two countries have common views on regional and global issues, Raisi added: "Iran and Kazakhstan have common positions on the developments in Afghanistan. Both sides believe in the formation of an inclusive government."
The President said: "We also believe that the presence of foreigners in the region will not bring security at all and will not solve any problem in the region."

The President of Kazakhstan, for his part, stated: "During the famine and drought, many of our compatriots took refuge in Iran, and the country welcomed our compatriots with an open arm and warmly; Kazakhs will never forget this."
"Raisi has a great role to play in improving relations between the two countries," Tokayev said.
Referring to the railway connection between the two countries and describing it as important for the region, the President of Kazakhstan added: "Today we also had good talks on cooperation in production and agriculture, which can play an effective role in improving relations between the two countries."
Iran-Kazakhstan trade volume increases by 50%
Tokayev also described trade and economic cooperation between the two countries as very important, stating: "Despite the unique geopolitical situation and restrictions in Kazakhstan, the volume of trade between the two countries has increased by 50% this year."
"We plan to establish a joint chamber of commerce between the two countries," the Kazakh president said, adding: "In this regard, Kazakhstan issues 14-day airport visas to Iranian businessmen."
