Tehran (IP) - Nine cooperation documents and memoranda of understanding in various fields were signed between Iran and Kazakhstan in the presence of the Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan.

Iran PressIran News: Nine cooperation documents and memoranda of understanding between Iran and Kazakhstan were signed in the presence of the Presidents of Iran and Kazakhstan, Ebrahim Raisi and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

At the beginning of the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries, Raisi and Tokayev also signed a joint statement.

The memoranda of understanding include:

"Memorandum of Understanding between the Centre for Political Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Foreign Policy Research Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan", "Cultural Exchange Program between the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan", "Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Analytical Studies and Exchange of Experience between the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade and the Ministry of Trade and Convergence of Kazakhstan." 

Also, the ministers, governor-generals and relevant officials of the two countries signed the following documents in the presence of the Presidents of Iran and Kazakhstan:

"Memorandum of Understanding on Increasing Bilateral Trade between the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade and the Ministry of Trade and Convergence of Kazakhstan", "Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad of Iran and the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan in the Field of Agriculture", "Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad of Iran and the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure of Kazakhstan in the Field of Trade and Transit of Agricultural Products", "Memorandum of Understanding between the IRIB and the State News Agency of Kazakhstan", "Memorandum of Understanding between the National Iranian Oil Company and KazMunayGas (KMG)", "Memorandum of Understanding between the Iranian Railways and the National Railway Company of Kazakhstan."

Following the signing of the documents and memoranda, the two presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan, Ebrahim Raisi and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, are scheduled to attend a joint press conference.

Prior to the signing ceremony, Raisi and Tokayev held a bilateral meeting to discuss regional issues and topics of interest.

The official welcoming ceremony of the President of the Republic of Iran to his Kazakh counterpart was held today (Sunday) with the playing of the national anthem of the two countries in the cultural-historical complex of Saadabad in Tehran.

The President of Kazakhstan arrived in Tehran today after attending the 25th International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the official invitation of a high-ranking political and economic delegation.

A delegation of about 40 Kazakh businessmen and businessmen will accompany the Kazakh president on the trip.

Tokayev is the second president of Kazakhstan, after 30 years of Nursultan Nazarbayev's rule.

The Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan met last year in 2021 on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tajikistan, during which they agreed to increase bilateral cooperation, including rail cooperation.

Before Tokayev arrived in Tehran, the first train of the new KITI railway corridor (Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye) arrived at the Tehran railway station, carrying 24 short-haul wagons carrying 48 20-foot containers of sulfur to Türkiye and then Europe.

During his one-year presidency, Ebrahim Raisi has paid attention to strengthening Iran's relations with its neighbors and trans-regional friendly countries and during this period, visits took place between high-ranking Iranian officials and countries such as Russia, Qatar, Oman, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
