In the wake of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran has vowed that the "terrorist occupiers" will regret their "cowardly actions."

Iran Press/Iran news: In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday morning, Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's commitment to defending its territorial integrity and national honor.

"Today, Iran mourns the proud leader and brave Palestinian resistance, martyr of al-Quds, Ismail Haniyeh," Pezeshkian stated. "Yesterday, I raised his hand as a sign of victory, and today I have to carry his body on my shoulders."

The President reiterated the strong bond between the Iranian and Palestinian peoples, asserting that this connection will only grow stronger in the face of adversity.

"We will continue to follow the path of resistance and defense of the oppressed more powerfully than ever," he declared.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will protect its territorial integrity and make the terrorist invaders regret their cowardly actions."

The assassination of Haniyeh, a prominent figure in the Palestinian resistance movement, has sparked outrage and calls for retaliation among Iranian officials and the public alike.

As tensions rise in the region, Pezeshkian's statements underscore Iran's commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and resisting what it perceives as aggression from Israel and its allies. The Iranian government has long positioned itself as a defender of Palestinian rights, and this latest incident is likely to further galvanize support for that stance among its domestic and regional constituents.
