Tehran (IP) - Dressed in black, the people of Tehran, the capital of Iran, to the streets and participated in mosques and Hussainiyas to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain, the third Imam of the Shia.

Iran Press/Iran news: Today, Muharram 10, 1446 AH, the people of Tehran along with other people across the country mourned for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala some 1,400 years ago, and renewed allegiance with his sublime causes.

Imam Hussain (AS), the third Imam of Shias Imam, was martyred along with his companions during the Battle of Karbala on Ashura day, Muharram 10, 61 AH (680 CE).

On the Day of Ashura- the anniversary of the Battle of Karbala, Hussein ibn Ali, a grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was martyred along with his 72 companions as he fought for justice against the then-time tyrant Yazid bin Muawiya and his the thousands of troops.
