Iran Press/Asia: Mehdi Taheri, Iran's cultural attaché and head of the Iranian Cultural House in Rawalpindi, visited Rawalpindi Women’s University, where he met with the university’s president, Ms. Anila Kamal.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the potential for expanding bilateral cultural and academic collaborations, particularly focusing on partnerships between Rawalpindi Women’s University and various universities in Iran.
Taheri highlighted the international academic standing of Iranian universities, noting that 73 Iranian universities are featured in the Times Higher Education rankings. He emphasized the importance of enhancing scientific and academic cooperation with Pakistani institutions.
The Iranian cultural attaché also pointed to opportunities for collaboration in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, joint research and educational projects, information sharing, and hosting scientific, artistic, and cultural events. He specifically underlined the potential for launching Persian language courses and establishing the Iranology center at Rawalpindi Women’s University.
Ms. Anila Kamal, president of Rawalpindi Women’s University, warmly welcomed the proposal and expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Iran’s Cultural House. She noted the university’s desire to collaborate with prominent Iranian institutions, including Al-Zahra University in areas such as science, culture, arts, and Persian language and literature. Kamal also confirmed the university's readiness to establish an Iranology center.
She added, "The Iran Cultural House and Rawalpindi Women’s University can collaborate on joint programs, including Persian language education and commemorative events for poets such as Allama Iqbal, among others. This is a valuable opportunity for us, and we plan to invite professors from various Iranian universities to participate in programs hosted by our university."Dr. Anila Kamal further stated that efforts will soon be made to formalize these collaborations through an MoU, which will encompass academic, research, cultural, and artistic exchanges between Rawalpindi Women’s University, Iran’s Cultural House, and various Iranian universities.
