Rome (IP) - Homeless people in Italy's capital city of Rome protested against the difficult economic situation and lack of permanent shelter.

Iran PressEurope: According to Iran Press News Agency, thousands of homeless and unemployed people came to the streets in Rome to have the right to housing, work and social security.

In the past few years, the continuation of the economic crisis has been the main reason of a significant number of people's unemployment. Many of these people have become homeless due to their inability to pay rent.

According to the statistics published in Italy, during the last 15 years, the population of the poor in this country has tripled, i.e. nearly 5,600,000 people.

Currently, the situation of the homeless in Italy has turned to an emergency.

A large number of homeless people live in the streets and in cardboard boxes and tents.

According to official statistics, 393 homeless people died in different Italian cities last year.

The Italian Statistics Center said the number of homeless people in Italy has increased to 100,000.
