Rome (IP)- The continuation of the economic crisis in Italy has spread to different sectors of this European country's industry, and more than 600 workers of the largest furniture industrial group in Italy are facing the risk of dismissal.

Iran PressEurope: Hundreds of workers of the "NATUZZI" furniture industrial group gathered in protest in front of the Ministry of Economic Development of Italy, demanding the government to get involved in their support.

Currently, more than two thousand workers of this large furniture group are working in two provinces of Puglia and Basilicata in southern Italy.

According to Italian trade unions, Natuzzi Group plans to lay off at least a third of its employees.

"We have come to Rome on behalf of the workers of the Natuzzi furniture group," said Luigi Sidari, the general secretary of the furniture trade union in Bari, Italy, to the Iran press correspondent in Rome.

"Luigi Sidari" stated: "The crisis that our group has been facing since 20 years ago has become much worse now, and only with the urgent and serious help of the government, the unemployment of the workers and the bankruptcy of this group can be prevented."

The Ministry of Economic Development of Italy has promised cooperation to the protesting workers of Natuzzi Industrial Group.
