Iran Press/ Europe: The World Health Assembly (WHA) meets annually with the participation of the World Health Ministers at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. This meeting is a good opportunity to exchange ideas on the achievements in the field of health.
The Geneva Summit will address global health issues, including primary health care, sustainable development goals, vaccinations, and the role of medicine and the environment in health.
The achievements of the health sector in Iran in the last three decades, especially in the field of polio eradication, vaccination, measles control and elimination of umbilical cord tetanus have always been praised by the World Health Assembly.
The World Health Assembly (WHA) is an association through which the World Health Organization is governed by 194 members. This forum is the highest level of health policy in the world and is composed of health ministers of member states.
Members of the World Health Assembly typically meet in May each year at the World Health Organization headquarters in Geneva. The most important tasks of this forum are to decide on major policy issues, as well as to approve the work plan and budget, and elect the Secretary-General of the World Health Organization. 219
