Tehran (IP) - Iran's minister of information and communications technology (ICT) says next year (1402) the meeting of the Ministers of Communications of the D-8 countries will be hosted by Iran.

Iran PressIran News: The Group of Eight or the Group of Eight Developing Muslim Countries, in which Indonesia, Iran, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkey, Malaysia, Egypt and Nigeria are members, is one of the regional pacts aimed at establishing strong economic relations between Islamic and developing countries. Strengthening the influence of these countries in the world markets and establishing a dialogue with industrialized countries.

The Secretariat of D-8 Technology Transfer and Exchange Network (D-8 TTEN)  is located in Pardis Technology Park (northeast of Tehran).

In the meeting with Isiaka Abdul Qadir Imam, the Secretary General of the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization, Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Isa Zarepour referred to the capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of information and communications technology, said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has very good capacities in the field of communication and information technology, especially the development of native platforms, and millions of users are active in them daily."

Zarepour also explained Iran's space capabilities in the space industry and added: "Iran is one of the countries that has the full cycle of the space industry and has now reached the knowledge of designing, manufacturing and launching indigenous satellites and analyzing space data."

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology further announced Iran's readiness to share knowledge and develop cooperation in the space industry, communications and information technology with the member countries of the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization.

In this meeting, Isiaka Abdul Qadir Imam, Secretary General of the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization, also stated that Iran is one of the advanced countries in the region in various sciences and technologies and has a key and pivotal role in the D-8 Organization, saying: "Considering Iran's progress in the field of information and communications technology announced the agreement to hold a meeting of the Ministers of Communications of the member countries of the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization in Iran."

Developing Eight (D-8) was established through the Istanbul Declaration, which was agreed upon at the First D-8 Summit on June 15, 1997, in Istanbul, Turkiye.

D-8 consists of eight developing countries, namely Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkiye.
