Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces held talks with Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs in Muscat.

Iran PressMiddle East: Major-General Bagheri is the most senior military official of the Islamic Republic of Iran who has been visiting Oman for the past 4 decades.

Leading a high-ranking military delegation, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri arrived in Muscat on Monday. 

The meeting took place on Monday, with the two officials discussing relations between their countries as well as issues of mutual interest, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

Chief of Staff of Oman’s Armed Forces Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Iran’s Ambassador to Oman Ali Najafi and the military attaché at the Iranian Embassy in Muscat were also present at the meeting, according to the report.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi and Major General Bagheri held separate talks as well, discussing military affairs of the two countries.

Among the delegates accompanying Bagheri is Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari, the Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force.

On Monday, Heidari met and held talks with Commander of the Royal Army of Oman Major General Mattar Salim Al Balushi.

Iran's top military commander Major General Bagheri has traveled to Russia, China, Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq, and Syria as part of the defense and security consultations of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
