IP- Iranian Minister of Petroleum has traveled to Russia to attend the 16th meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Russia in which the two countries are going to discuss new phase of cooperation on oil and gas exports.

Iran PressEurope: The 16th meeting of the joint economic commission of Iran and Russia will be hosted by Russia from Sunday to Tuesday.

Petroleum Minister Javad Owji is the head of the Iranian delegation of this joint commission, and Alexander Novak, the deputy prime minister of Russia, is also the head of the Iran-Russia joint commission from Russia.

Different working groups of Iran and Russia in the fields of oil and gas, transportation, information technology, energy, standards, sports, customs, agriculture, industry, banking and finance, trade and investment, business, and education have held their talks since Sunday morning.

These representatives are now focusing on preparing relevant documents for developing relations and identifying cooperation capacities, and the final preparation and signing of these documents and the compilation of the final text of the protocol and joint road map of economic cooperation will be done on Tuesday.Iran's ambassador to Russia said Tehran and Moscow had established very good cooperation in the field of energy, and one of these areas is an investment in oil and gas fields.

Kazem Jalali, in an interview with Shana, underlined the 16th meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Russia and stated that the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia are developing day by day.

“This relationship development can be evaluated in two approaches; one of them is the issue of the neighborhood of the two countries and the second issue is the closeness of the views of Iran and Russia in the world arena,” he said, adding, “Iran and Russia have a common and close view on global management, as well as global power structure.”

He added: “The closeness of views in the two countries prompts us to be able to develop our relations more than in the past. Fortunately, Iran and Russia have had good relations in the fields of security, politics, defense and military since the past, and today the relations in these sectors are growing and developing, however, there are shortcomings in the field of relations concerning trade and economy.”

The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia stated: “We are currently in a period where after the visit of the president to Russia in February 2022, new alignments have been established in the relations between the two countries.”
