The President of the National Standards Organization of Iran announced that the country's ranking in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has improved, moving from 26th to 20th place among 165 countries.

Iran PressIran news:  Mahdi Eslam Panah made the announcement on Monday during a ceremony commemorating National Standards Week at the Islamic Summit Conference Hall.

 He highlighted the organization's transformative progress over the past 35 months, focusing on youth leadership, promoting gender equality, digitalization, and enhancing transparency through the elimination of "golden signatures" and system-based governance.

These efforts have elevated the organization’s position, leading to membership in 702 specialized committees.Eslam Panah noted that during this period, 65,695 votes were registered in international standardization processes, and Iran successfully secured memberships in several challenging international forums.

He also emphasized Iran's growing presence in global standards, including the international recognition of Iranian certifications. Among the organization’s achievements, he highlighted the mandatory standardization of products, such as updates to standards for clothing, stationery, and school textbooks.

Additionally, the organization has tackled several legal tasks, such as halting the production of eight car models, conducting various safety tests, and producing secure sample boxes for petroleum derivatives. The organization also earned a top transparency ranking among government agencies and was recognized in the Shahid Rajaee Festival for its exceptional performance.

Eslam Panah noted that these transformative efforts were achieved with minimal resources and staff, stressing the organization's commitment to supporting quality control managers and the broader standardization community.

He further emphasized the vital role of the private sector in improving standards and quality. Collaboration with business associations, experts, and chambers of commerce is essential for overseeing and promoting standardization. The formation of these organizations will contribute to further enhancing product quality.

Finally, Eslam Panah called on the 14th government to strengthen and develop the standardization law, providing support in recruiting talent, increasing the organization’s budget, and equipping laboratories to ensure complete implementation of quality and standardization efforts.
