Iran Press/ Iran News: Iran’s former ambassador to Russia Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi stressed the need to increase Iran's cooperation with Russia as a country that plays a significant role in the international arena.
Sajjadi pointed to the Russian people with religious, cultural, and emotional soul, and noted that Russia is a country that has the most common benefits with Iran.
He made his remarks on Tuesday in a meeting held at the International Association of Muslim University Professors, attended by some Iranian and Russian diplomats, to discuss strategic relations between Iran and Russia and expand the cooperation between the two countries.
The Iranian former ambassador to Russia stressed that Iran and Moscow will not follow West in their policy.
Russia’s former ambassador to Iran Alexander Sadovnikov for his part said that the West wants Iran and Russia to follow their policy, but Tehran and Moscow will resist.
"We also support Tehran to benefit its rights and we have proved the fact with our cooperation with China in 2015 regarding the JCPOA," he added.
He highlighted fighting with the international terrorism in Syria and normalizing the condition in Afghanistan as the examples of Iran and Russia’s cooperation. 207/219
