Iran, UAE agree to continue the dialog on the theme of HOPE

Tehran (IP) - Iran's foreign minister says he agreed with his Emirati counterpart to continue the dialog on the theme of Hormuz Peace Endeavor (HOPE)—especially as the region faces tough challenges and tougher choices ahead.

Iran Press/Iran News: "Just had a very substantive, frank, and friendly video conversation with the United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan," Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote in a tweet on Monday.

In an address to the 74th session of the UN General Assembly on September 25, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said as a steward of maritime security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, Iran invites all countries that are affected by developments in the strategic region to join the Hormuz Peace Endeavor.

"We discussed COVID-19 as well as bilateral, regional, and global situations," Zarif tweeted.

"We agreed to continue the dialog on the theme of HOPE—especially as the region faces tough challenges and tougher choices ahead," Iran's foreign minister noted.

“Others may exploit the current situation to destabilize the region, however, we, as neighbors, should think about regional stability,” Zarif said at the Sunday's meeting with the United Arab Emirates foreign minister through videoconference.

For his part, Abdullah bin Zayed said his country attaches great importance to talks and cooperation between Iran and the UAE.
