VP says action taken by US fighters can be prosecuted

The Vice President for Legal Affairs Laya Joneidi stressed that the actions taken by the US fighters and making harassment for the flight 1152 of Mahan Airlines make the international responsibility of their respective governments and will lead to legal prosecution, including in the ICAO Council and the International Court of Justice.

Iran PressIran News: Laya Joneidi, the Vice President for Legal Affairs, added that the behavior of fighter jets in relation to Flight 1152 of Mahan Airlines and harassing a passenger plane in the territory of a third country is a clear violation of aviation security, violation of the principle of freedom of flight of non- military aircraft.

The VP stated that this action is in addition to contradicting Article 3 and 44 of the International Civil Aviation Treaty (Chicago Convention) and the relevant annexes and the 1971 Montreal Convention, as well as violating certain principles of international law.

Jonidi said that the explanations provided so far are unjustified and unconvincing, so the actions taken by these fighters will cause the international responsibility of their respective governments and will lead to legal action, including in the ICAO Council and the International Court of Justice."
