Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with the Australian Ambassador to Tehran Lyndall Sachs on Monday, Karim Hemmati said: "Iranian Ministry of Health and Red Crescent Society have made efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic in the country. As a result, 21 million people have been screened, 14,000 of whom were diagnosed as positive cases, and received treatment."
The official added that following the talks with the officials of the Australian Red Cross, there is a hope that the US lifts medical sanctions imposed on Iran.
IRCS Chief went on to say that both officials have agreed to cooperate in the fight against COVID-19.
Hemmati stated: "To provide humanitarian aid and services, the IRCS cooperates with other countries and there is a good bond between IRCS and the Australian Red Cross."
According to IRCS Chief, Iran has received humanitarian aid i.e. personal protective equipment (PPE) for COVID-19 from other countries, mainly China.
Australian Red Cross has sent 470,000 Franks of humanitarian aids to Iran, a move that is thankworthy, Hemmati said.
IRCS is among the world's five largest Red Crescent Societies. Many IRCS personnel are voluntarily working at the organization.
