US Caesar Act against Syria is contrary to basic human rights: Amir Abdollahian

Tehran (IP) - Application of the US Cesar Act sanctions against the resilient people of Syria is against human rights and international treaties, tweeted Hossein Amir Abdollahian, special aide to the speaker of Iran's Parliament in International Affairs.

Iran PressIran news: Amir Abdollahian went on to highlight that Iran and its allies will continue to stand strongly with the people and leadership of Syria.

Amir Abdollahian said: "The fate of this US-Zionist Act will be doomed to failure."

Syria is the ultimate victor in the war on economic terrorism.", concluded Amir Abdollahian.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry responded to the so-called 'Caesar Act' indicating that the US through it violates human rights and international laws.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry also stressed that the Syrian people, army, and government will stand up to US cruel actions, with the same determination to defeat the US-backed terrorist groups.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Wednesday the start of sanctions against the Syrian government.

The US sanctions against Syria in the form of the so-called 'Caesar Act' targetted 39 Syrian officials and figures including President Bashar al-Assad and his wife. 

Syria war, which began in March 2011, has killed hundreds of thousands of Syrians and dislocated thousands more while destroying most of the country’s infrastructure and industrial capacity.
