Tehran (IP) - A meeting of political consultations between the Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan was held via video conference.

Iran Press/Iran News: The meeting, chaired by Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Deputy Foreign Minister, and Vafa Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, focused on the latest political, economic, trade, consular cooperation and regional and international issues.

Recalling the importance of relations between friendly and neighboring countries, the two sides stressed the need for joint cooperation and urgent measures to overcome the obstacles and problems caused by the Corona crisis.

The reopening of rail and road borders in accordance with health protocols, cooperation to counter the economic effects of the global crisis, the resumption of specialized meetings between various economic agencies of the two countries by video conference, the resumption of trade, the elimination of transit problems are important agreements raised in the meeting. 

Regional issues, including developments in Afghanistan, as well as regional security, were other topics discussed at the meeting.
