Tehran (IP) - Head of Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Health called plasma-based treatment derived from recovering patients as a promising experimental treatment to cure COVID-19 patients.

Iran Press/Iran News: In response to Iran Press question about the effectiveness of plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients, Kianoush Jahanpour said that the idea of a plasma-based treatment derived from recovering patients is not old and it has been put into practice in the serum and vaccines to cure disease.

"it also has been taken into practice for infections by producing antibodies," he added. 

The Head of Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Health reiterated that Plasma is a promising experimental treatment yet and it creates the possibility by infected ones' antibodies to cure others who are affected by COVID-19.

Kianoush Jahanpour highlighted the promising effectiveness of plasma cure diseases, adding, "Its response depends on the rate, level, and severity of the diseases and as the experiences have proven, it is effective to cure COVID-19 as well."

He noted that the method has been under test and trial in Iran as well as other countries, stating, "The final result will be announced after getting the total results on patients."

The head of Razi Institute of Iran Ali Eshaqi said on Friday evening that due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country and studies on plasma therapy for patients suffering from it, joint meetings were held between Razi Institute, Alborz University of Medical Sciences and the Blood Transfusion Organization of Iran to start the implementation of this project in Alborz province as a joint research project.

President of Masih Daneshvari Hospital, Ali Akbar Velayati on March 26 said that Plasma therapy of Corona patients had begun at Masih Daneshvari Hospital by donation of plasma to patients with COVID-19.
