Iranian football federation praises Iranian national team

Following Iran's defeat by Japan in the 2019 Asian Cup, and stepping down of its head coach, Carlos Queiroz, the football federation of Iran in a statement praises Iranian national team.

Iran Press/Iran news: The statement by the Football Federation said: "The current year no doubt has been a year of 'strenuous and all-out effort' of our deserving football players who gathered under Iran's honorable flag, in the National Team from every corner of the world and from Iran itself, in 2018 World Cup, and 2019 AFC Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates."

After 14 years, Iran's national team was among the top four Asian teams, out of a total of 24 teams, and they made every effort to win the cup outright, but ended the tournament among the top four, Iran Press reported.

With the end of the tournament for our national team, we sincerely appreciate the technical staff, every single player of the national team and all those who accompanied us sincerely, including the kind and brave Iranian people, Iran's foreign ministry, clubs, provincial football boards, journalists, press and Law Enforcement, Security and Cultural institutions.

The statement meanwhile thanked and praised Carlos Queiroz's eight-year career in Iranian football and wished him success for the future.
