Moscow(IP)- The Head of Iran's General Inspection Organization met with the Prosecutor General of Russia to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in citizen rights protection, supervisory activities, and legal and judicial affairs.

Iran PressEurope:  According to Iran Press News Agency, Zabihollah Khodaeian, Head of Iran's General Inspection Organization, met with Igor Krasnov, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, today in Moscow.

Khodaeian is attending the BRICS summit of inspection and regulatory bodies’ heads in Moscow.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the Iranian Ambassador to Russia and delegations from both countries, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in monitoring public and private institutions to safeguard citizens' rights.

Khodaeian presented a report on Iran’s efforts in fighting economic corruption, supporting entrepreneurs and economic activists, and reviving closed production units. He emphasized that, in addition to its supervisory duties, the General Inspection Organization remains committed to combating all forms of economic corruption, particularly in defense of civil rights.

Khodaeian pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran has faced severe sanctions from the U.S. and the West for over four decades. He stated that Iran and Russia, both under U.S. and Western sanctions, could strengthen cooperation across various sectors to mitigate the impact of these unjust measures.

Expressing gratitude for Russia's supportive stance at the United Nations, particularly in the Human Rights Committee, Khodaeian criticized the U.S. and Western countries for their selective use of human rights as a political tool.

He condemned the silence of international human rights organizations over Israeli atrocities, noting that while the Zionist regime massacres over 40,000 innocent women and children in Gaza with U.S. weapons, global institutions remain silent, turning a blind eye to the crimes of Israel and the U.S.In response, Igor Krasnov highlighted the firm resolve of the two countries' leadership to elevate relations to a strategic level.

He announced that a comprehensive long-term cooperation agreement between Iran and Russia will soon be signed, marking a new chapter in their bilateral relations.

Krasnov also stressed the alignment of Tehran and Moscow’s views on regional and international issues, as well as shared interests. He remarked that Iran's membership in the BRICS group creates new opportunities for multilateral cooperation and strengthens efforts to counter unilateralism.

The Russian Prosecutor General underscored that sanctions against independent nations are among the primary tools used by the U.S. and the West to weaken these countries. He called for enhanced cooperation through mechanisms such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Union to neutralize U.S. sanctions.
