In a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, Iranian and Russian Ministers of Justice reviewed judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Iran PressEurope: Iranian Minister of Justice, Amin Hossein Rahimi, in a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Konstantin Chuychenko, referred to the increase in BRICS status and influence in the world and said: "BRICS group's ability to act in the international arena has changed due to the arrival of new members and can give more momentum to the flow of multilateralism in the international realm. 

Iranian Minister of Justice also considered the consolidation of legal and judicial cooperation between Iran and Russia as a platform for developing relations between the two countries in other areas of mutual interaction, especially in economic cooperation.

Konstantin Chevichenko, the Minister of Justice of Russia, also described the first meeting of BRICS justice ministers in Moscow as a step towards judicial justice at the international level. He also referred to the dynamic process of legal and judicial cooperation between Iran and Russia, and called for the continuation of consultations to use the capacities as much as possible. 

Iran's Minister of Justice arrived in Moscow on Tuesday, before noon, to take part in the meeting of the BRICS member states' ministers of justice.

Russia, as the BRICS chair in 2024, has planned around 250 events within this framework, with the most significant being the BRICS summit, scheduled for October 2024 in Kazan, Russia. Among the new members, Saudi Arabia’s participation in BRICS events has been minimal. According to Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Federation Council, Riyadh is still evaluating its involvement in the BRICS group.

The BRICS group, or emerging economies of the world, was initially formed with the presence of Russia, China, India, and Brazil, and then South Africa joined it. At the beginning of this year, Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, and Ethiopia joined the group.
