Officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kuwait discussed increasing efforts to secure the maritime borders between the two countries

Iran Press/ West Asia: This issue was discussed during the meeting of Brigadier General, Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Coast Guard, with General Ahmed Ali Godarzi, the Commander of the Border Guard of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a report, Kuwait's Ministry of Interior announced that the meeting was held in the building of the General Directorate of the Coast Guard in this country's "Sabah Al Ahmad" naval base.

During this meeting, the two sides discussed solutions to strengthen efforts to search and rescue commercial fishing vessels, fight against drug trafficking, and piracy, and guarantee the security of maritime borders between the two countries.

Also, in this meeting, the parties in addition to strengthening cooperation for joint maritime security, emphasized facilitating maritime trade lines and maintaining the stability and maritime security of the two countries.

Last January, the General Directorate of the Kuwait Coast Guard sent a multi-mission search and rescue vessel, as well as another one for identification and research on maritime security, both of which were built by the ministry of this country to strengthen maritime capabilities. 219
