Moscow (IP): Russia's foreign ministry spokesman said Moscow was opposed to drafting a US-proposed resolution calling for an extension of Iran's arms embargo describing it as unproductive and unjustified.

Iran PressEurope: Maria Zakharova on Thursday reiterated her opposition to drafting a US resolution in the Security Council to extend Iran's arms embargo, according to the RIA Novosti

She said the draft contained clauses that had nothing to do with resolving issues surrounding Iran's nuclear program.

Zakharova added that the draft resolution presented by the United States to the UN Security Council for the indefinite extension of Iran's arms embargo includes measures aimed at pursuing a policy of maximum pressure from Washington against Iran.

"We consider raising the issue of introducing some kind of additional restrictions not only unjustified but also counterproductive in terms of the prospects of preserving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on settling [the issues] surrounding Iran's nuclear program," Zakharova said at a media briefing.
