The BBC reported on the possibility of bankruptcy in major city councils in Britain due to the consequences of the coronavirus.

Iran Press/Europe: A number of British city councils have said they could go bankrupt if the government does not agree to provide more aid, the BBC reported.

The British newspaper Metro wrote in a report titled "Major cities are on the verge of bankruptcy because of Coronavirus": at least five major British city councils are in a complete financial crisis.

Local officials in cities such as Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool have asked the government for financial assistance, saying it would not be possible to provide vital services to vulnerable residents without injecting cash.

The government of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been accused by the media and public opinion of failing to address the Coronavirus and its policies have not been adjusted to the depth of the crisis inflicted by the virus.

According to the latest official figures, 306,862 people have been infected with the coronavirus in the UK so far, of which 43,081 have died.
