Teacher Day in Iran; Commemoration of martyred Morteza Motahari

Tehran (IP) - Ordibehesht 12 (May 1) is the anniversary of the martyrdom of Morteza Motahari and the commemoration of 'Teacher’s Day' in Iran.

Iran PressIran news: After the martyrdom of Professor Morteza Motahari, an Islamologist, scholar, and philosopher on May 1, 1979, this day has been named 'Teacher's Day' in the calendar of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During his studies in Qom, Motahari, in addition to learning scientific issues, was also active in the field of political struggles and since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, he has been one of the activists of this movement and a close friend of Imam Khomeini, the great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

Morteza Motahari studied Islamic sciences from the age of 12 and completed his education at Qom seminary with the presence of prominent professors such as Ayatollah Boroujerdi, Allameh Tabatabai, and Imam Khomeini.

Deep knowledge of Islam, as well as awareness of social, political, and cultural issues and problems of the modern era, were the characteristics of Martyr Motahari.
