Tehran (IP) - National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a group of Iranian sports champions and medalists sent a message of hope to the people of the world amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

Iran PressIran News: In a video message released on late Friday, the National Olympic Committee and a group of Iranian sports champions and medalists urged all people around the world to stop harming themselves, their families and friends by thinking, praying, hoping, and following health protocols amid the Coronavirus outbreak. 

"Everyone should try to compensate for the damage caused by the Coronavirus and make effort for a healthy world, without war, hatred, and disease," they said in the message.

The National Olympic Committee and Olympic gold medalist heavyweight weightlifter Behdad Salimi, bronze medalist at the World Fencing Championships Mojtaba Abedini, wrestling coach Gholamreza Mohammadi, gold medalist at the Karate 1-Premier League Salzburg Hamideh Abbasali, Asian Games gold medalist in shooting Najmeh Khedmati emphasized: "We must stay strong and carry on because life goes on." 

The COVID-19 viral disease that has swept into 210 countries and territories around the world, infected 2,250,790 people and killed more than 154,260 is now officially a pandemic, according to the World Health Organization announcement on Wednesday, March 11.
