Iran Press/ Asia: As the next phase of his South Asian tour, after a comprehensive visit to Pakistan, Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Sri Lanka on Wednesday morning and was officially welcomed by his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Accompanied by his Minister of Energy, Ebrahim Raisi took a one-day visit to Sri Lanka to open 3 energy mega projects, including the Uma Oya Dam, which were built by capable Iranian engineers.
The 120 megawatts Uma Oya project has 2 concrete-roller dams and a 19-kilometer water transmission pipe with its power plant being embedded 750 meters deep in the ground.
The great project includes 2 dams, a water transfer tunnel, and 2 underground hydroelectric power plants, each with a capacity of generating 60 megawatts (120 megawatts in total).
The dam project also irrigates 5,000 hectares of farmlands in Sri Lanka. 204
